A glimpse at the schedule of Philippine International Arts Festival events this heART month reveal an Ani ng Sine feature film titled The Cinema of Lav Diaz. I don't know if this is a documentary or a set of short films by the maverick filmmaker. All I know is I'll be among the curious cinephiles waiting in line to view this piece on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Shangri-la Mall Cineplex.

i believe it's a documentary about lav diaz.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I can't find info about the director, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit wary about films produced through grants by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. I'll passed up on this screening and just enjoy Pasinaya. If the 'Diaz film' is good, then we'll probably see it again in Cinemalaya 2011 or in UP.
i hear it has the blessing of lav diaz. must be good?
ReplyDeleteI hope so.
ReplyDeleteIf the NCCA website is reliable, then there's the possibility of another screening on the 28th of February. But, it is a regular office day so my chance of seeing The Cinema of Lav Diaz is probably dependent on the programmers of the three major local fests: Cinemalaya, Cinema One, and Cinemanila. UP Film Institute is a good bet, too.
